The UK IT team are responsible for supporting over 1400 users in the UK. The department is split into two main areas, IT Support and Digitalization Support. The role fits into the IT Support area and is then made up of two teams Support and Infrastructure. The role of Support Desk Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the UK Support team.

Sika is always growing and developing, and our team plays a key role in the integration of new entities and supporting ever changing and growing business.

In the last year the demand for IT support has increased significantly in the UK. With the increased size of the UK based support team, we require a support desk manager to lead the team and also the day to day running of the IT Support function. This is now more important with the implementation of new systems and controls over the last few years including the introduction of the new ServiceNOW helpdesk system.

The Opportunity: 

Due to the growth of the UK Support Team, we are looking for an experienced leader to deliver the management responsibilities of leading the support team. With the migration to ServiceNOW from the Topdesk ticketing system this has now introduced new responsibilities regarding SLA and KPI reporting.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Full management responsibility of the UK IT Support Team (1st and 2nd Line) who are based across various locations across the UK.
  • Reporting on all aspects of performance and service levels of the team, highlighting and business issues.
  • Working closely with the Infrastructure Team leader and Regional Support and Project Manager to ensure resource planning is considered as and where required.
  • Working with the Head of IT to plan and manage budgets, annual hardware replacements and upgrade projects are planned and included in all forecasts as and when requested by the SMT.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stake holders within the business and external suppliers to ensure the correct solution and value for money is always delivered to the companies benefit.

As the business continues to grow this role is critical to ensuring business continuity is maintained throughout all departments by ensuring all staff have all the IT related services required to fulfil their roles. This requirement is a cornerstone of the strategy within sika at a global level.

  • Previous experience as a line manager
  • Able to work effectively as part of team, remotely and in person
  • Able to motivate a team and ensure the relevant targets are achieved. This includes managing and driving SLAs to deliver outstanding customer service to colleagues
  • Experience in stake holder management
  • Strong communication skills: both spoken and written.
  • Self-motivated - able to work unsupervised; uses own initiatives to ensure effective outcome.
  • Travel - Our UK Support Team cover a number of sites across the UK meaning that frequent travel will be required. There will also be occasional overseas travel.
